She proved she could sing pop, R&B, and even rock. But when Melanie Amaro's time is done on THE X FACTOR – either as the winner or one of the runners-up – what kind of record can we expect from her?

"I think for my first record I just want to do a R&B and pop or pop-soul, or just music that embodies it," she tells us. "I want people to sing and move around. I want people to love the music."

She says that having to perform a variety of music on the show this season has prepped her for what's to come. "As an artist, what I think I’ve learned about myself is that I can sing any kind of music. To be honest, I’ve done pop. I’ve done jazz. I’ve done R&B. I’ve done soul. I’ve done rock. I mean, I’ve done all kinds of music and I know as an artist I can do anything."

Whether she wins or not, the 19-year-old, who grew up in the Virgin Islands and Florida, is confident she has a bright future ahead. "I envision a big career ahead of me whether I win or not, but it’s always better to just win, so I really hope that you guys vote and keep me here. I’ve worked so hard to be in the position that I’m in," says Melanie, who adds that she wants to perform at Madison Square Garden or Staples Center. "Oh God! That would be nice!"

She also dreams of performing a duet with Mariah Carey, who tweeted her this week after she sung her hit, "Hero." "We'll see what happens," who plans to stay in Los Angeles instead of moving back to Florida after the show, she says with a smile.

And, we'll see what happens this Thursday, Dec. 22 at 8/7C on FOX on our two-hour finale where Melanie, Josh Krajcik , or Chris Rene will be named THE X FACTOR winner.
